Results Discussion Control of chronic inflammation is important in several inflammatory conditions like asthma, rheumatoid arthritis and fibrosis in lung diseases. The regulatory pathways that control chronic inflammation are complex and multi-factorial. Over expression of inflammatory mediato

  2023-01-11

The protein kinase CK2-mediated phosphorylation of HMGN1 was implicated to be involved in age-associated amnesia in rats [31]. It was shown that the decreased level of HMGN1 phosphorylation due to the down-regulation of CK2 activity could cause amnesia in aged rats, whereas the treatment with protei

  2023-01-11

Growth-inhibition assays are the most commonly used to identify antifungal small molecules. However, they have several facts that limit their use since many pathogenic fungi grow as filaments making difficult a correlation between growth and OD (optical density). They are not useful for identifying

  2023-01-10

Additionally, regulation of GPCR heteromerization by specific ligands may depend not only on the affinity of ligands for receptors, but also on presence of different interacting proteins co-localizing with the receptors in the specific cell, which may induce some conformational changes and contribut

New AMPK activators Fenofibrate is a drug of the fibrate class used for the treatment of dyslipidemia [53] but is also an agent that could alleviate DN-induced alterations through AMPK activation (Fig. 2). Streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats treated with fenofibrate improved in not only renal fu

The take-home message here is that, although Aurora A phosphorylated on T288 is the activated isoform of Aurora A, measuring the level of phosphorylation of T288 does not reflect Aurora A kinase activity (Figure 5). What would be the most appropriate readout for an in vivo Aurora A kinase activity

Experimental procedures Results Discussion Although previous studies have indicated that astrocyte aromatase plays a role in nociceptive processes (O'Brien et al., 2015, Smeester et al., 2016), the mechanisms responsible for the regulation of aromatase and its involvement in nociception rem

Apoptosis, a major process of programmed cell death, and in response to many chemopreventive agents (Jeyamohan et al., 2016). In general, two major signaling pathways control apoptosis, namely, a pathway mediated by cell death receptor and a pathway mediated by mitochondrion, and possible drug targe

Endogenous adenosine systems have largely been implicated in drug actions by the demonstration that caffeine (non-selective A1R and A2AR antagonist) (see Section The issue of caffeine), in doses up to 7.5–10mg/kg, inhibits antinociception, and when this occurs, it our website is generally also seen

Methods Results Discussion Autotaxin has been shown to have effects on major cell types implicated in OA, notably chondrocytes, osteoblasts, osteoclasts, and synoviocytes, through its enzymatic product LPA [20]. However, a paucity of research exists on the involvement of autotaxin in OA. Fi

Recent findings imply, that proper Na+/K+-ATPase function is crucial for unimpaired development of the vertebrate heart. Targeted knockout of Na+/K+-ATPase α1 in mice led to early embryonic lethality whereas heterozygous knockout mice displayed severe hypocontractile hearts [52]. Pharmacological inh
